Peoria Proud is the recipient of an Equality Illinois Statewide Partnership Fund since 2017,with our renewed partnership for 2021-2022 just announced. The main purpose of the statewide partnership fund is to engage, educate, and activate LGBTQ stakeholders and allies. Local community-based organizations like Peoria Proud have the knowledge of local issues and the breadth of relationships to be able to identify local needs and generate attendance at events.
We trust in Equality Illinois’ ability to develop strong advocates, secure meetings with elected officials, and help promote legislation important to the LGBTQ community. To that end, Peoria Proud and Equality Illinois will work together to provide civic engagement training and opportunities for members of our community to meet with elected officials in a town hall and office visits.
Peoria Proud and Equality Illinois host an annual Advocacy Day in Springfield Illinois, and host a monthly call for local individuals, groups and stakeholders to discuss local issues as well as any changes or legislation at the state level.
To join in the monthly calls, please email us at ad***@pe*********.org!
